McIlroy insists 'things are on the up'

Despite narrowly missing out on his first title of the year at the Korea Open, Rory McIlroy insists his form is coming back.

The former world No. 1 finished joint-second to Kang Sung-hoon in Korea and lost out by one shot, and with matters about his relationship with Caroline Wozniacki filling inches in publications all week, the Northern Irishman believes he is recovering on the greens following a slump over the past 12 months.

"Things are definitely on the up. I feel like I'm getting back to where I need to be," McIlroy told BBC Sport.

The 24-year-old began the year by switching clubs in a multi-million pound deal with Nike, and has slipped to sixth in the world rankings.

But McIlroy is confident of playing well in the next two events at the BMW Masters and the WGC Championships.

"I'm excited about these next two weeks in China. They're a big two weeks for me to get a little bit of momentum for the end of the season and going into 2014," he said.

"My putter let me down in the last couple of days [in Korea]. If I can get the putting right, hopefully I'll have a chance."
