Ryder Cup a priority for Rose

Justin Rose fired a fantastic opening round at the Memorial Tournament and promptly confirmed he will tailor his schedule to ensure he secures a place in the Ryder Cup.
Rose has found wins hard to come by on the PGA Tour and has slipped outside the world's top 50. He is outside the automatic qualification places for Europe's Ryder Cup team, but believes two wins will secure him a spot on Colin Montgomerie's team.
If he is just short heading into the final weeks of the season, Rose has signalled his intention to chase Ryder Cup rather than Fed-Ex points.
"I think I'm two wins away so I've just got to play my heart out without thinking of results," Rose said. "I believe my game's good enough and if I match it all up I will be at the Ryder Cup. I've got a great Ryder Cup record.
"You've got to be a contender if you are playing well. He [Montgomerie] wants an in-form team; I feel I've got enough experience so if I'm playing good I should be in with a chance."
Montgomerie has been frustrated by the sight of his key figures putting the PGA Tour ahead of the European Tour, but Rose is ready to change his schedule to prove his commitment.
"In 2008 I played three or four weeks in Europe to make sure I made the team," Rose said. "If I am close to getting in and need to pick up points, I'll add tournaments again."
