Henrik Stenson has been named European Tour Golfer of the Month for November - and with it become just the second man to win the award three times in a single season.

The Swede, who also won the plaudits in August and September, was victorious at the season-ending World Tour Championship in Dubai to add the Race to Dubai crown to the FedEx Cup he picked up on the PGA Tour.

Stenson, who will end the season as world No. 3 behind Tiger Woods and Adam Scott, said: "It's very pleasing to win the award again. I have to say I am a little surprised to have beaten Victor [Dubuisson] because of his win in Turkey and then backing it up with a good performance in Dubai - but that is not for me to judge.

"I am certainly not complaining.

"It is very flattering to win these awards and I suppose to win three of them in the same season just shows once again that this has been a dream year for me.

"Winning the World Tour Championship the way I did to win the Race to Dubai overall was very special obviously.

"And to be the only guy to have won the Race to Dubai and FedEx Cup in the same year is something I might never get the chance to do again so I was so happy to be able to take that chance."

The only other player in the 29-year history of the European Tour's Golfer of the Month award to win the award three times in a single season was Ian Woosnam in 1987, largely thanks to five tournament wins as well as leading Wales to victory in the World Cup.
