Bjorn made four birdies and two eagles during his fourth visit at the Gary Player Country Club, finishing with a seven-under 65; although his round was marred by a bogey at the last.
It did not matter, however, as Garcia could not find anything extra in his last two holes to force a play-off and Bjorn was left top of the standings at 20-under-par overall. Garcia had enjoyed a flying start with six birdies on the front nine before following with two more on his return to the clubhouse - but his title hopes were hampered by a solitary bogey at 16.
Jamie Donaldson could not build on his previous three rounds of 67,66 and 67 as he finished with a two-under 70, joining Garcia at 18-under par for the tournament.
Swede Henrik Stenson carded 67 to finish fourth overall, while Brendon De Jonge and Charl Schwartzel each ended the event with a 66. Justin Rose made 67 to finish 12-under after his four rounds, eight shots off Bjorn's lead.
