Sergio Garcia has been cleared of any wrongdoing after being questioned over a potential breach of rules at the Abu Dhabi Championship.

Garcia was met by European Tour chief referee John Paramor when he arrived at the National Course on Friday morning. The two went to a television compound to review video footage from Thursday's incident.

On the ninth hole of his opening round, Garcia had marked his ball before tapping down something on the green with his putter. Paramor accepted Garcia's explanation that he was flattening a pitch mark, a legal action.

A European Tour statement said: "John Paramor is satisfied with Sergio's version of the matter and that is the end of the issue."
