Matt Kuchar continued his impressive Masters form by taking a share of the lead at the RBC Heritage after shooting an opening-round 66 in South Carolina.

He was joined at the top of the leaderboard by Scott Langley and William McGirt, who also went five under for the day.

Jordan Spieth, the 20-year-old American who lost a two-shot lead to finish runner-up to Bubba Watson at Augusta, showed no signs of letting his Masters disappointment get to him as he opened with a 69 to tie for fifth at Harbour Town Golf Links.

It was a similar story for Kuchar, who had also been in contention for much of Sunday's final round at Augusta National, as he went bogey free on Thursday.

Spieth will have impressed Ryder Cup captain Tom Watson, who was part of his playing group.

Harris English went three under to sit in fourth, with Scotland's Russell Knox part of the large group joining Spieth on two under.

Luke Donald was a shot further back at one under, while Graeme McDowell, Stephen Gallacher and English amateur Matthew Fitzpatrick - who made his Masters debut last week - were even par.
