Westwood hopeful for Open de France after muscle strain

Lee Westwood remains optimistic of playing at the Open de France after tests revealed a muscle strain in his right leg.
The world No. 3 was taken to hospital with a suspected blood clot after discovering swelling in his right calf and ankle, but after pulling out of the pro-am at Le Golf National on Wednesday, tests showed no sign of a clot.
Stuart Cage, Westwood's spokesman revealed Westwood would make a decision on his participation on Thursday morning.
"The doctor has decided there is no DVT or blood clot and that the problem has something to do with a reaction to the heat," said Cage. "Lee is going to have an anti-inflammatory dressing put on the muscle and, if he rests up tonight, then hopefully the swelling will go down and he will be able to play tomorrow.
"He is certainly going to go to the course in the morning and make a decision then."
