Torrential rain in Valhalla has delayed the final round of the US PGA Championship.

Greens became flooded at around 5.40pm BST with the leading groups - including players such as Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson - still more than two hours from teeing off.

At one stage during the downpour, the sixth green was completely submerged, with England's Chris Wood fearing his ball marker might be swept away from its position.

It raises the possibility of play being extended into Monday. The US PGA has been completed on a Monday previously, with 2005 being the most recent occasion. Mickelson emerged as champion to claim the second major of his career, having won the Masters the previous year.

Play resumed at 7.40pm BST, with McIlroy and playing partner Bernd Wiesberger teeing off at 9.19pm BST.
