Eight-time major winner Tom Watson has reaffirmed his belief that Tiger Woods needs to show more respect for the game.

Woods has seen his life turned on its head following the revelations about his private life. The world No. 1 has not won a tournament since returning to action and has looked to be struggling to find any sort of form.

Watson has sympathy for what Woods is having to deal with, but believes it would be better for all concerned if he showed greater humility.

"Life is more complicated now," Watson said. "I'm sure there are things going on in his mind that make it very difficult for him. When he is at his best he hears nothing.

"He needs to show more humility to the fans. He has not carried the same stature as the other great players.

"His behaviour on the golf course doesn't show the respect for the game that the players who came before him have shown. It doesn't respect Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan and Nick Faldo. He needs to clean up his act."
