- John Deere Classic, Round Three
Stricker powers on in John Deere

Steve Stricker seized control of the John Deere Classic and a stunning round of 62 saw him break the Tour record for 54 holes.
World No. 4 Stricker started the day one shot ahead of Paul Goydos and stretched his lead to six shots with some brilliant golf on a Deere Run course he knows so well having won the event 12 months ago.
Stricker came into the event with a cloud hanging over him on account of injury worries, but he has proved his well-being and nine birdies moved him up to 25-under.
"It has been a good three days, but we have one more day and my focus is on finishing it off," Stricker said. "I seem to putt well here. The fairways are generous and there are lots of short irons, which is good for me."
Goydos led after 18 holes following his amazing 59 and he performed with distinction, but was simply blown away by Stricker. Goydos carded a 67 and is now six off the lead. Jeff Maggert made a big move on Saturday, as a 63 took him up to 19-under and a share of second place with Goydos.
Rocco Mediate did his best to hog the limelight, as he holed in one on the par-three seventh. It helped Mediate card a 64, which fired him up the field to 11-under.
Shaun Micheel moved firmly into contention for a high finish following a stunning round of 63 on Saturday. He is now on 15-under through 54 holes.
