Ramsay and Molinari lead the way in Switzerland

Scotland's Richie Ramsay set the early standard to lead the European Masters after round one, but was soon caught by Edoardo Molinari.

Ramsay, the 2012 champion, enjoyed a superb start at the picturesque Crans-sur-Sierre golf club in Crans Montana, Switzerland, making eagle at the first hole before following up with two successive birdies.

He ended the day with an eight-under 62 and was equalled by Molinari, who carded a flawless round of the same score.

"Four under through three holes was a nice way to start," Ramsay told the European Tour's official website. "I hit a great six iron into the first and then two more good iron shots into the next two, so I was flying at that point. It gave me a great boost and I managed to pick off a few more birdies after that."

English duo Tommy Fleetwood and Graeme Storm are two shots back at six-under, while compatriots Seve Benson and David Lynn both lie at five-under for the tournament following their opening rounds of 65.

Jamie Donaldson, looking for back-to-back European Tour titles, also sits three shots off the lead at five-under.

Miguel Angel Jimenez and Jose Maria Olazabal, who were both named vice-captains of Europe's Ryder Cup team by Paul McGinley, finished side-by-side with even-par rounds of 70.

Defending champion Thomas Bjorn is four-under having made five birdies and a solitary bogey in his opening round of 66.
