McIlroy: European team not just about Poulter and me

Rory McIlroy has a new love in his life: Golf.

After a high-profile split from former tennis world No.1 Caroline Wozniacki ahead of the BMW PGA Championship in May, McIlroy not only went on to win that week at Wentworth, but landed back-to-back majors.

Wozniacki's game has also picked up since the break-up. The Dane won her first title in eight months at the WTA Istanbul Cup before going on to reach the final of the US Open - where she lost to Serena Williams.

And McIlroy has no plans to be getting involved with anyone for now.

"We (golfers) are never really in the same place for very long so it is hard to keep relationships going if you want to start one," he told BBC Sport.

"Golf is my girlfriend at the minute and it's going to be that way for a while.

"I'm at the stage of my career and the stage of my life when I'm putting golf first. Golf is the priority for me right now. For the foreseeable future that is what it is going to be.
