Westwood targets Ryder Cup captaincy

Lee Westwood has confessed it would be a 'dream' to one day captain the European Ryder Cup team.
Westwood will play under the guidance of Colin Montgomerie when the famous competition heads to Celtic Manor in October. Europe are charged with the task of regaining the trophy after tasting defeat at Valhalla two years ago.
By the time the tournament arrives, Westwood could be the world's No. 1 if he wins the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, but the 37-year-old admits becoming the European Ryder Cup captain would rank as one of his greatest achievements.
"I'd love to be the captain one day. It's a massive honour and very few people get to do it," said Westwood. "I've played under lots of different captains, I think Monty will be the seventh.
"I've got a lot of experience playing in the Ryder Cup and a lot of experience of different captains and the way they've all done it and I should be able to look back and know what to do and what not to do. Hopefully one day I'll get the chance to do that."
Turning his attentions to the world No. 1 spot, Westwood added: "It would be amazing. It's not really something I set out for at the start of the year but now it's in reach it is something you focus on."
