Hanson a Ryder Cup doubt after Vivendi withdrawal

There are doubts over Peter Hanson's fitness ahead of the Ryder Cup after the Swedish player was forced to withdraw from the Vivendi Cup with a chest infection.
The pullout - which is reported to be precautionary - comes with just one week remaining before the European and American teams commence battle at Celtic Manor.
"I was feeling okay up until yesterday," Hanson said on Wednesday. "I got a bit of a chest infection, a bit of a cold. [I] don't want to be sick next week, so I'll try to treat that and see the doctor and hopefully I'll be ready to play tomorrow morning."
The 32-year-old is understood to be confident about his chances of competing at the Ryder Cup, having sealed an automatic qualification place with a triumph at the Czech Open.
It is another blow to the European team ahead of the tournament, with concerns remaining over Lee Westwood's fitness - the world No. 3 has not played a competitive round since the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational at the start of August.
