Fisher ready for Ryder Cup challenge

Ross Fisher is champing at the bit to get his Ryder Cup career underway and has backed Europe captain Colin Montgomerie's decision to unleash all 12 of his players on Friday.

Fisher is one of six rookies on the Europe team and admits the nerves are starting to grip as the competition nears its kick off on Friday morning.

Montgomerie has made repeated claims that all 12 of his team will play at some stage on Friday and Fisher believes it is the best way to get the nerves out of the system.

"The nerves are going to be there, but if you're not nervous for this then there is something wrong with you as this is as big as it gets for team golf," Fisher told Sky Sports News. "Myself and the boys want to do us proud and get the trophy back.

"I am a rookie and it will settle the rookies' nerves down if they get out there. To get all 12 players out there playing [on Friday] is a good thing. Hopefully it will go well and we will get plenty of blue on the scoreboard."

The opening fourballs are announced on Thursday afternoon and Fisher is ready to take on anyone.

"I don't care [who I play]," he said. "I will take anyone on and it does not bother me.

"It is pretty special, I came here last Wednesday and it hit home how big this thing is. The grandstand on the first and round the course, it is going to be amazing. Hopefully Colin will put be out on Friday morning, if not Friday afternoon. As soon as I get out there it is going to be immense."
