Oosthuizen pulls out of Grand Slam of Golf

Next week's Grand Slam of Golf has been dealt a fresh blow with the news Open champion Louis Oosthuizen has pulled out of the event on account of an ankle injury.
The South African sidestepped last week's Alfred Dunhill Links Championship after stepping in a pothole while on a hunting trip and damaging ligaments. He was hopeful of being passed fit to make the trip to Bermuda but the injury has not responded as expected and Oosthuizen has informed officials he will not be able to participate.
The event is a 36-hole championship featuring the winners of the season's four majors, but it has lost some sheen with Oosthuizen following Phil Mickelson, who has been suffering from psoriatic arthritis, onto the sidelines.
Ernie Els replaced Masters winner Mickelson and Oosthuizen's spot has gone to American David Toms - with the pair joining US Open champion Graeme McDowell and German Martin Kaymer, winner of the US PGA Championship, in the field.
The winner of the event will pick up £376,000, second place is worth £188,000, third £156,000 and the player finishing last picks up £125,000.
