Martin Kaymer has handed a significant boost to the European Tour by insisting he will not be jumping ship to take up a PGA Tour card.

Some of European golf's leading lights, Paul Casey, Luke Donald and Graeme McDowell among them, will spend the majority of their time in America and there were fears that Kaymer would have his head turned by the greater riches on offer on the other side of the Atlantic.

However, following the lead of Lee Westwood, the German has insisted he will always be a member of the European Tour. Kaymer has confirmed he will play more events in America next year, but has handed a huge boost to the European Tour by stating he will not be leaving his "home".

"The European Tour and European golf has always been important to me since I turned professional," Kaymer, who will be crowned world No. 1 if he finishes first or second at the Valderrama Masters, said. "The people on the Tour are fantastic and it is home for me.

"Yes I will play more events in America next year, but that is because I want to improve my game. I feel I will improve as a player by playing worldwide, not only in America, but I will always be a member of the European Tour."
