Fitness drive to propel Westwood on

Lee Westwood's quest to add a first major to his world No. 1 tag will see him overhaul his playing schedule next season.
Westwood became the first man in 281 weeks to knock Tiger Woods off the top of the tree, but there have been suggestions that it is a hollow accolade on account of him having so far failed to secure a major success.
The 37-year-old Brit is aware of the criticism and his goal is now to take the next step, but he will attempt to do it by hitting the gym as opposed to packing his schedule with lucrative appearances.
"Lee will play fewer tournaments next year, probably 23 or 24, and will start training weeks," his manager Andrew Chandler told the Daily Mirror. "We've never done that before. In those weeks he will do nothing but train, with only a few golf sessions.
"His training with Steve McGregor has been a huge part of his success - it has given him confidence and self assurance. Lee reckons he has lost a stone and carries himself differently on the course. He has a bit of a strut with his chest out. I think that is all from him feeling good about his body and himself."
Chandler feels the fitness regime can propel Westwood to major champion. "The way Lee trains now, I think he has got five or ten good years left. I am certain he will put himself in a position to win one or two majors next year. In fact, I can see him winning one by a street."
