Kaymer unsure of No.1 push

Martin Kaymer went within a whisker of becoming world No. 1 in 2010, but feels it could be too far away for him to achieve in 2011.

The German had a momentous year, lifting his first major at the US PGA Championship, helping Europe win the Ryder Cup and emerging victorious in the Race to Dubai to be crowned Europe's No. 1.

Kaymer will start 2011 as the world's third best player, with Lee Westwood and Tiger Woods ahead of him in the pecking order, but he does not believe he can climb higher in the next 12 months.

"World No. 1 is one of my goals, but I had a lot of things to think about this year, especially after the PGA Championship," he told pga.com. "So to be honest with you, the No. 1 in the world is still too far away to realise for me. "

Kaymer is setting his sights on winning a major and also has an unusual goal he wants to achieve.

"I've never made one [a hole in one] in my life, so that would be nice in 2011," Kaymer said. "I would like to prove that I'm Europe's No. 1 and take that challenge on again. It would be nice to win a major again, preferably the British Open, our only major that we have in Europe."
