Hunter Mahan's last-day charge at the Pebble Beach National Pro-Am was not enough to prevent DA Points from walking away with the title.

Mahan fired a 66 on the final day that took him to 13-under overall, two shots shy of Points' 72-hole total.

A devastating one-two punch at 14 and 15 took Points over the finishing line - first he holed for eagle from 100 yards, then rolled in a 30-footer for birdie.

Before Points' late heroics, Mahan had worked himself into a share of the lead with a run of five birdies on the front nine. He was unable to sustain the push after the turn - two birdies, one bogey - as Points held out for a first win on the PGA Tour.

Mahan finished in second, while overnight leader Steve Marino surrendered a top-three place with a triple bogey at 18. Tom Gillis took third place at 11-under.

Elsewhere, Phil Mickelson endured a turbulent day - five birdies, four bogeys - as he finished at eight-under on a course that has seen him record three triumphs in the past. The world No. 4 struggled from the tee, hitting just over half of his fairways, has he failed to sustain an early charge that saw him birdie four of the first six holes.

Padraig Harrington's disastrous weekend continued on Sunday - he followed up Saturday's 73 with a 78 that featured a triple bogey and just one birdie.
