Luke Donald is determined to turn consistency into trophies as he predicts a bumper season in 2011.

Until his win over Martin Kaymer at the WGC Match Play Championship in Arizona on Sunday, Donald had not won on the PGA Tour in nearly five years.

A single victory at the Madrid Masters was the sole addition to his trophy cabinet last season, but he has been rewarded for ten top-three finishes with a move up to a career-high third in the rankings.

Sunday's victory marked his first win on the PGA Tour since his triumph at the Honda Classic in March 2006, and Donald has vowed to continue to build on the victory and turn more near-misses into victories and he expects big things from 2011.

"It's a learning process, trying to understand why those seconds and thirds were not wins," Donald said in The Telegraph. "I'm disappointed I haven't won more.

"I'm always looking at what more I can do to improve. The win in Madrid was satisfying. It could have been more. While '06 was a good year for me, 2010 was probably my best and something to build on."

Donald believes consistency is just as important as trophies, and believes he can follow in the footsteps of fellow Englishman Lee Westwood and reach the top of the world rankings.

"I expect big things of myself," he said. "Lee Westwood shows you don't have to win too many times to be considered the best. He has played consistently over the last two years and got to world No 1. As long as you retain the passion and the drive, then you can get better. I work harder now than ever."
