David Horsey survived an 18th-green collapse in regulation play to clinch the Trophee Hassan II title on a second play-off hole.

Horsey's double-bogey six at 18 meant that Rhys Davies, last year's winner, had a three-footer for the tournament - but he pushed it well past the hole, ensuring the three men at 13-under - Horsey, Davies and Jaco van Zyl - would enter sudden-death battle.

And it was Horsey who held his nerve, draining a four-footer to claim a second European Tour title.

"I made hard work of it coming down the last in normal play, and it's more relief to get there in the end - hopefully I'll kick on from here," Horsey said. "I had quite a bit of luck out there, a few shots might not have gone my way, but I took advantage of the little bit of luck you need."

He began the day in a share of the lead with Davies but, after a hole-in-one at the second, had stormed three shots clear of his rival by the turn, only to wobble with the finish line in sight, bogeying 12 before succumbing to a six at the last.

While his rivals foundered, Van Zyl saved his best golf for the home stretch, picking up four birdies between ten and 15 as he forced himself into an ultimately futile bid for the crown.
