Brian Davis booked his place at the Open Championship with a blistering round of 64 during qualifying at the Gleneagles Club in Texas.

Sergio Garcia pulled out just four holes in due to a finger injury, while the event was reduced from 36 to 18 holes on account of heavy rain.

The change clearly benefited Englishman Davis who finished one shot ahead of American Chad Campbell.

There were eight spots on offer for this summer's Open at Royal St George's, with Davis Love III, Spencer Levin, Chris Tidland, Bob Estes and Nathan Green securing safe passage with 66s.

The final spot went to Jerry Kelly who beat Justin Hicks in a play-off after they shot 67s.
