McIlroy leapfrogs Kaymer in world rankings

Rory McIlroy has joined Luke Donald and Lee Westwood in the top three of the world rankings.
The newly-crowned US Open champion profited from Martin Kaymer's failure to challenge at the BMW International, with the Ulsterman moving up a place from fourth by leapfrogging the German without swinging a club.
McIlroy started the year in 10th place before his maiden major triumph at Congressional catapulted him up to fourth and his current position is his highest career ranking to date.
Sergio Garcia, meanwhile, is closing in on the top 50 having finished as runner-up at the BMW International after an agonising play-off defeat to Pablo Larrazabal. Garcia, who is now 51st in the standings, qualified for next month's Open Championship by finishing in the top two of the mini-money list which ended in Munich.
"My goal was to qualify for the British Open and I've done that," the Spaniard said in the Guardian. "It was a pity one of us had to lose but seventh in the US Open, and this, shows my game is coming around.''
