Mark Webber said that the standings display which team has the best package at present despite Red Bull's apparently dominant pace in Valencia.

A lack of running at a wet Silverstone on Friday meant it was impossible to gauge whether Red Bull had maintained its advantage from the last race, but Webber doesn't believe it has the best package. He pointed to Fernando Alonso's lead in the drivers' championship as the main indication, but said that Red Bull was in the mix.

"Fernando's leading the drivers' championship, we're leading the team's championship, both of us [Webber and Sebastian Vettel] are up there in the drivers' championship so that's the form card," Webber said. "We could have a shopping list of excuses, all of the teams can say 'we shoulda, coulda done this or that' sort of stuff. Michael Schumacher could have a thousand points, Lewis [Hamilton] could have a thousand points, but so could we and that's motorsport.

"We are developing the car as quick as we can but at the end of the day the barometer is the points in the championship and we will keep making sure that we try and get the most out of the package at all venues. This is another challenging one for us this weekend."

Reflecting on Friday practice at Silverstone, Webber said he would have liked to have done more running on the intermediate tyre but said the conditions were too bad for it.

"Fernando tried the inters - had a little look at those obviously because you get a free set of inters on days like this, but not many people could run them because of the conditions. Fernando also bent his Ferrari at the end there because of that. We'd all have liked to have tried the inters more but it goes to show that the conditions were not quite there for it."
