Jules Bianchi remains 'critical but stable'
Marussia's Jules Bianchi remains in a "critical but stable" condition in hospital following surgery after he sustained severe head injuries in Sunday's Japanese Grand Prix.
Bianchi is being treated at the Mie General Medical Center in Yokkaichi and an FIA spokesperson said on Monday that his condition was "critical but stable".
Bianchi's parents, who had been at home in the south of France, arrived late on Monday after a flight delayed by Typhoon Phanfone. Camille Marchetti, Bianchi's girlfriend, could only send her message via Twitter. She was praying for his recovery and added: "You are my champion! You are the strongest."
Professor Gerard Saillant, the FIA's medical commission president, is also at the hospital. He attended to Michael Schumacher after his skiing accident ten months ago. Also present are Graeme Lowdon, Marussia's racing director, and John Booth, the team principal,
Marussia issued a statement expressing appreciation for the support Bianchi has received and asked for ''patience and understanding'' with regard to further medical updates.
