Fauzy may get race drive in 2010
Local boy Fairuz Fauzy said it was a "great experience" to get his first taste of driving a Formula One car during a grand prix weekend after the first session of free practice at Sepang on Friday.
"It went well, I had a great experience," Fauzy told the BBC. "It was a very special experience for me but at the end of the session I had a problem and couldn't go quicker."
Driving Heikki Kovalainen's Lotus, the Malaysian set the 22nd time of the session with a best lap time of 1:40.721, 1.3 seconds down on team-mate Jarno Trulli.
Afterwards, Fauzy mentioned that Lotus F1 Team Principal Tony Fernandes may even place him in the car for a Grand Prix this season.
"Tony mentioned that I might be driving in one of the races this year so we'll see how it goes - I think it would be great," said Fauzy.
It was not Fauzy's first taste of the Sepang circuit, the Malaysian having driven there in A1GP and in GP2 Asia.
