Hamilton worth his money - Mercedes
Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda have both lauded Lewis Hamilton's performance in Singapore and said it shows why he is regarded as one of the best in the business.
Hamilton secured the fifth hat-trick of his career at Marina Bay with pole, the fastest lap and victory. Though he led for all but two laps a blistering stint after the safety car was crucial in earning him the victory and the championship lead after Nico Rosberg's early retirement.
Having watched Hamilton dominate the race and much of the weekend, Mercedes executive director (business) Wolff was full of praise for the Englishman.
"That was really awesome," Wolff said. "These are the Lewis Hamilton days, the days when you recognise how great he is. It makes the difference between the superstars and the stars, between the very best and the best."
Lauda, one of the key figures in tempting Hamilton to leave McLaren for Mercedes in 2012, echoed Wolff's sentiments after the race.
"He's worth his money I can tell you that!" Lauda said. "He won the race because he drove a sensational race - nothing more to say. Hard, hard and tough."
