Win qualifies Adlington for World Championships

Double Olympic champion Rebecca Adlington has qualified for the 2011 World Championships with victory in the 400 metres freestyle at the British Swimming Championships in Manchester.
After easing through the heats and into the final in ominous fashion, Adlington showed she is returning to the sort of form she exhibited in Beijing almost three years ago with victory by two body-lengths in a time of four minutes 2.84 seconds - faster than the time that won her that first gold medal in China.
"I am so pleased with that time and with that swim," Adlington said. "I am so happy to get back down to my time in Beijing and especially in a 100% textile suit, I can't ask for anything more."
The 22-year-old beat Jaz Carlin - who also will qualify for the World Championships, which will be held in Shanghai - into second, with Kerri-Anne Payne rounding out the podium.
In the men's 400 metres event, Commonwealth 200m champion Robbie Renwick won the event, although his time of 3:51.90 was outside the required qualification time for the World Championships.
Ieuan Lloyd was second, with Joshua Walsh in third.
