Mark Webber has branded his reprimand for hitching a lift with Fernando Alonso in Singapore as "comical".

Having retired from the Singapore Grand Prix on the final lap, Webber ran out to Alonso on the slowing down lap and sat on the side of the Ferrari to return to the pits. However, he was reprimanded by the stewards for entering the track without marshal's permission, and as it was his third reprimand of the season Webber receives an automatic ten-place grid penalty in Korea.

Alonso was also reprimanded for stopping in a dangerous place, but Webber thinks the fact that either driver was punished was wrong.

"For [Alonso] and me to receive reprimands for our actions after the race it is comical to say the least," Webber wrote on Twitter. "Great moment, and fans loved it. And while I'm at it, contrary to reports, there was no interaction at all with any track officials after we put the fire out."
