Sebastian Vettel has said there is no more room for errors as he and Red Bull embark on the final seven races of the season and chase down the championship.

Vettel has missed out on a number of potential wins this year due to reliability problems (Bahrain and Australia), mistakes (Turkey) and misunderstandings (Hungary). He said the pace of the car had afforded such luxuries earlier in the season but, with the pressure being put on by rivals McLaren and Ferrari, there was now no margin for error.

"Basically the championship starts from more or less zero now and we have to focus on every single race," he said. "With 20 races to go, or 15 races, there's obviously more chance or probably more room for mistakes and with only seven to go you know that every single one is probably more important.

"Speaking about Ferrari and McLaren, they have to and they will push until the end. They are in a similar position to us - and it is all tight on points."

He added that he was not dwelling on his missed opportunities.

"Yes, we should probably have more points," Vettel admitted. "We have a saying - I don't know if it makes any sense in English - but where I come from we say 'if the dog wouldn't have gone for a shit, he would have got the cat' It basically means that what could, should, would doesn't matter. You could argue that we should have scored more points, but then again, other teams and other drivers should have scored more."
