Kubica wants Brazil return 'if timing is right'

Robert Kubica has revealed that he would love to make his return to the F1 scene in Brazil - but insists that he'll only do it if the timing is right.

The Lotus Renault team leader has been out of action since February, when he suffered terrible injuries in a close-reason rallying accident, partially severing his right hand and leading many to conclude that his racing career was over.

The Pole has consistently said he aims to return to F1 by 2012, and rumours have been rife that he will try and make a comeback in this year's season finale in Brazil.

"I like to have a goal when it's a reasonable one," he said in a fans Q&A on his team's website, when the subject of a comeback in Brazil arose.

"We'll see how the next few months go in terms of the rehabilitation process evolution and then we'll take a decision in due time," he added.

In his absence, Vitaly Petrov and Nick Heidfeld have taken the Lotus Renault team to fifth place in the constructors' championship after nine races, including one podium placing each - which makes one wonder what a fit and healthy Kubica could have done.

"What is important is that I know that my team is keeping my seat for whenever I need it," he said. "It is difficult to predict the timing of a process that is also dependent to the 'rules of nature'.

"But the good news is that my recovery is consistent and sooner or later I will feel sufficiently fit to be able to put a date on when I'll be back."
