ESPN rounds up the best radio soundbites from the Russian Grand Prix, as Nico Rosberg's chances of victory went up in a cloud of smoke on a sombre race weekend in Sochi.

"Sorry about that, Pastor. Complete shambles."

In a rare role reversal Lotus apologises to Pastor Maldonado after an early stoppage consigns him to the back row of the grid.

"You need to do something! I cannot do anything!"

Meanwhile an exacerbated Felipe Massa is having issues of his own as an engine problem prevents him from harnessing the potential of the Williams. Massa drops out of Q1 in eighteenth while team-mate Valtteri Bottas goes on to agonisingly miss out on pole position.

"YES! Come on!"

Daniil Kvyat responds with joy after achieving a career-best qualifying of fifth in front of his home crowd in Sochi. Unfortunately for the rookie, it was as good as his home grand prix weekend was going to get.

"OK Nico, you have to give the place back to Lewis."
"I have to box because of vibrations."

Nico Rosberg's race falls apart in the opening moments of the race as his failed pass on Lewis Hamilton throws Plan A out of the window.

"He's gonna get deg. We'll get him back."

Valtteri Bottas receives an incredibly confident message from Williams after being passed by Rosberg, supposedly nursing his tyres after a stoppage at the end of lap one. The degradation was nowhere near as severe as imagined and Rosberg would come home in a comfortable second.

"This is desperate now, mate. It's desperate."

Sergio Perez gets a final warning (twice) from race engineer Gianpiero Lambiase about fuel consumption after spending one too many laps dicing with Massa in the battle for 10th.

"Sorry guys. That was very unnecessary."

Despite an impressive recovery drive to second, Rosberg's post-race thoughts are immediately with his first-corner mistake which made victory a walk in the park for his team-mate and title rival Lewis Hamilton.

"Get in there Lewis. Absolutely brilliant drive."

Peter Bonnington is getting good at deliver post-race victory compliments to Hamilton and was at it again in Russia after the Brit controlled the race from start to finish... albeit after his team-mate's early error.
