Kamui Kobayashi has been slapped with a five-place grid penalty after he ran a red light in the pits during qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.
The Sauber driver was knocked out of Q1 after a disappointing lap and on his return to the pits he missed a red light indicating that he should stop at scrutineering for a mandatory weighing. The stewards stuck to the letter of the rules, issuing a five-place grid drop that will force him to start Sunday's race from the back row of the grid.
In his defence Kobayashi said: "I obviously went past a red light in the pit lane and missed going to the FIA scales. I just didn't see it."
