Kimi Raikkonen says he has no chance of matching Sebastian Vettel in qualifying at the Singapore Grand Prix, even though his fast lap on Friday was ruined by traffic.

Raikkonen was eighth fastest in the second practice session on Friday and 1.529s off Vettel's pace-setting time. Raikkonen is confident he can go faster with a clear run but admitted the Red Bulls are out of reach.

"They were faster than anyone else, but just talking about my own lap time I think I can do much better," he said. "I don't think I can match Red Bull, there is no chance, but that's the way it is.

"I had some traffic in the first lap so I'm not too worried about it. The car felt not too bad so we will have to see tomorrow what we can do on one lap. That's a normal Friday. Usually this downforce level suits us better."

Raikkonen's race pace was much closer to the Red Bulls but he refused to get too excited about it.

"It was not too bad. I haven't really seen what the others did but it was okay. I had a good feeling and I'm not too worried."
