Felipe Massa believes Williams is now in a position to get a good result at the Singapore Grand Prix after resolving its Friday practice issues.

Both Williamses were off the pace on Friday because they were overheating their rear tyres, but a change to the car overnight solved the problem. Massa was on provisional pole after the first runs in Q3 but dropped to sixth after the second runs.

"After FP3 we weren't sure where we expected to be," he said. "Qualifying was good and we were there fighting and in Q3 it was a pretty big fight all the time. When I saw that I was first after the first try, I had done a very good lap straightaway, so I didn't do a lot to improve after. But I just lost some positions, but I think other than that it was positive for us.

"We did a good qualifying and this is not the best track for us. We are just a few tenths slower and I think that is okay and we still believe we can do a good race tomorrow. It's not easy just to finish, so let's try everything we can."

Massa is confident the changes made since Friday will also help with race pace.

"The biggest problem yesterday was the tyre temperature and it should be better in the race. I hope it's enough to the pace. The strategy after our long run yesterday was about three stops, but now [with the changes] it's already on the line between two and three. We will see what is best and how the car behaves in the first stint."
