Red Bull still fast despite flexi tests - Webber

Mark Webber insists the Red Bull has not lost any of its pace with the introduction of stricter flexi-bodywork tests over the past two races.

At Spa Francorchamps and Monza the flexibility tests on front wings and the cars' floor were ramped up to ensure teams were racing within the spirit of the regulations. Red Bull claimed it made no changes to its front wing and only minor ones to its floor in line with its competitors.

However, results at recent races, where Red Bull has been off the pace compared to its dominance in Hungary before the tests, led some members of the paddock to believe the changes had been more extensive. Webber denies this.

"We knew nothing would change with our car before we came here; we've passed all the new FIA tests and we weren't coming here expecting to be slower than we were in Budapest," he said. "Other people had their ideas how to improve their car and we have continued to improve our car too. Ferrari still look quick and anyone can be on pole tomorrow, us, Ferrari or McLaren, we just keep trying to do our best."

The lap times from Friday night's practice sessions in Singapore would appear to back up Webber's claims as his team-mate Sebastian Vettel dominated as he did in Hungary. Webber was 0.6 seconds off Vettel but said there was still some time to be found in the car.

"A pretty good first day, the first session was wet, but we got some good running this afternoon," he said. "I haven't seen the times that closely yet, but I'm pretty happy with how today went. I need to work on my short run performance a bit, but overall it's good."
