Hamilton beat me fair and square - Rosberg
Nico Rosberg admits Lewis Hamilton "just did a better job" in Q3 after losing out to his team-mate in a tense in-house battle for pole in Spain.
After being blown away by Hamilton on Friday, Rosberg topped FP3 and the first two qualifying sessions. Three straight wins have given the momentum to Hamilton in the title fight and Rosberg is not making excuses after failing to overcome him once again.
"[Second is] very disappointing," Rosberg. "I don't particularly enjoy coming second to Lewis. I'm disappointed, yes, but in the end it was a good lap from me in the end so Lewis just did a better job from that point of view, that's the the way it is."
Though a psychological blow in their personal duel, Rosberg is focused on the race tomorrow and is refusing to write off his chances of ending Hamilton's streak.
"It's still all to play for tomorrow. Second place is only a little bit away from optimum because all it takes is a good start tomorrow and then I'm in the lead again. That's the good thing about it, it's all to play for.
"Today wasn't ideal but plenty to play for tomorrow. It's going to be a long race so it's all possible. Tyre degradation is going to be a key point so it'll be about getting a handle on that."
Despite seeing Daniel Ricciardo a whole second behind Hamilton's pole time, Rosberg does not think Mercedes necessarily extended its advantage.
"No I wouldn't say [Mercedes has got further ahead] but I think we've managed to keep the gap existent and that's an achievement already, it's fantastic. I'm very happy about that. Our ambition is to make the gap bigger, not to try and be shaky and hope they don't close the gap too much."
