Williams need points - Barrichello
Rubens Barrichello says that Williams need to finish in the points at the Spanish Grand Prix this weekend in order to relieve the pressure on the team.
After four scoreless races so far in 2011 - the worst start in Williams history - the team is running an updated car in Barcelona in the hope of moving to the front of the increasingly competitive midfield. The situation has already been highlighted by the resignations of key team members Sam Michael and Jon Tomlinson, who will leave at the end of the season, and Barrichello said it was important one of the drivers finished in the top ten as soon as possible.
"We need to score points," Barrichello said. "There's too much pressure on all of us at the moment as a result of not scoring points so far this year and we need to break that trend. As well as our position in the constructors' championship, points are what motivate people. They are good for the guys in the factory; they are good for the guys in the pit garage; they are good for the drivers - they're good for everyone."
Barrichello said he was hopeful that Williams' new rear wing would give the team a significant step forward in lap time.
"Like most teams in the pitlane, we have lots of new parts at this race. The most significant ones are the new floor and the new rear wing. We brought the rear wing to Turkey two weeks ago, but it needed a bit more work. It should be ready to race here and we hope that it will be worth 0.3s per lap alone."
