Hardy challenged to eclipse Ebersole's cartwheel kick

Dan Hardy has revealed he may pull out the cartwheel kick at UFC Live 5, after being sent video footage by the UFC's pioneer of the technique, Brian Ebersole.

Ebersole is certainly not the first man to have ever performed a cartwheel kick, but he is the man most associated with the manoeuvre in the UFC. The Australian launched his eye-catching kick against Chris Lytle, who provides Hardy's opposition this weekend.

All the pre-fight hype has been about the serious consequences facing Hardy if he loses. A fourth straight defeat could, although not guaranteed, end his UFC career.

Lighter-hearted topics, such as cartwheel kicks, have been overlooked in pre-fight interviews, until the Brit spoke to the Australian Daily Telegraph.

"Brian connected me recently on Twitter and dared me to try the cartwheel kick," Hardy revealed. "Even sent me some video of him perfecting the move at a training camp in Thailand.

"So, yeah, I've watched it a few times and taken some mental notes. Actually, I think I can probably outdo it.

"I've spent years doing Tae Kwon Do so I've got some pretty crazy kicks myself. If I'm going to rise to this challenge, and the opportunity presents itself during the fight, I'll have to come up with something flashier."
