Overeem applies for fight licence

Alistair Overeem has filed an application for a fight licence with the Nevada State Athletic Commission.

If his request is denied due to a recent failed drug test, he may not be able to request a new licence until April 2013.

Keith Kizer, executive director of the commission, told the Bleacher Report he "assumes" Overeem will be in attendance at a hearing into the test on April 24.

A positive A sample showed Overeem had a T/E (testosterone to epitestosterone) ratio over what is permitted by the commission. He has not asked for the B sample to be probed.

Overeem was scheduled to challenge for the UFC heavyweight crown against Junior Dos Santos at UFC 146 on May 24.

Unless Overeem has a satisfactory explanation for the failed test, he will not face Dos Santos.
