Marquardt made weight hours before medical failure

Nate Marquardt is believed to have made weight just hours before the official weigh-ins for UFC Live in Pittsburgh.
Marquardt had to be pulled from the June 26 card after failing to pass his medical, sparking multiple theories over the reason for his withdrawal.
Set for his UFC welterweight debut, the departure of former middleweight Marquardt instantly led to a belief that he failed to hit the 170lb limit ahead of Sunday's fight with Rick Story.
Dana White's consequential decision to axe Marquardt from the UFC then raised further theories that the Denver-based fighter had committed a more serious crime, such was the severity and swiftness of White's actions.
Now a video has emerged on BJPenn.com showing Marquardt cutting weight just hours before the bout. Having tipped the scales at 172.6lbs, he is then seen calmly entering a sparring session followed by a steam to shed the final few pounds.
A follow-up weigh-in then sees Marquardt tip the scales at 170.8lbs, which is 0.2lbs inside the allowed limit for a non-title welterweight fight.
An official reason for Marquardt's medical failure is still yet to arrive, but he has issued an apology on Sunday to his fans.
