Nate Marquardt will explain the cause of his UFC Live absence on Tuesday, with "disgusted" president Dana White telling the American to "man up".

Marquardt failed a medical ahead of Sunday's main event with Rick Story, throwing the card into chaos. Story ended up fighting and losing to Charlie Brenneman, while Marquardt was axed by the UFC.

It has since emerged that Marquardt made weight hours before the official weigh-in, and the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission additionally revealed that the American had known of his medical issue for six weeks.

The official reason for his failure has still not been clarified, and president White was clearly fuming with the former middleweight during Sunday's event.

"Nate Marquardt is going to have to man up and tell the world why he didn't pass his medicals," White said. "When he does that, I think everyone will understand why he was cut from the UFC.

"Bottom line, what Nate Marquardt did is bad enough to be cut by the UFC. I'm disgusted with him. He has no business fighting in the UFC."

Marquardt has promised to end the mystery when he makes a statement in the next 48 hours.

"I will personally be addressing all issues related to my medicals, etc this Tuesday," Marquardt posted.
