President Dana White has issued a short video message to announce that Nate Marquardt's UFC days are over following his late withdrawal from UFC Live on Saturday.

Marquardt threw Sunday's Pittsburgh event into major jeopardy when he failed to gain medical clearance to fight in the main event against Rick Story.

An angry-looking White has reacted quickly, first by announcing Pat Barry v Cheick Kongo as the new main event, and then by declaring that Marquardt has fought his last battle under the UFC banner.

"I'm sure you heard Nate Marquardt is out - it's true. He failed the medical," stated a clearly livid White.

"Not only is he out of this fight and out of the main event on Versus, he will no longer be with the UFC."

Official clarification behind the reason for Marquardt's failure to gain medical clearance is yet to emerge. However, UFC vice-president of regulatory affairs Marc Ratner has said that it is up to the Pennsylvania Athletic Commission, not him, to release a statement.

Story will remain on the UFC Live card, fighting Charlie Brenneman in the co-main event.
