Schumacher did not apologise personally, says Barrichello

Rubens Barrichello says Michael Schumacher did not apologise personally to him after his widely-criticised move that nearly forced the Brazilian into the pit wall in the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Schumacher was initially unrepentant after pushing Barrichello wide at speeds approaching 180mph as the Williams driver attempted to pass. But in the wake of widespread criticism from reporters and drivers alike, an apology was issued in German on the seven-time world champion's official website.

"I did not receive a phone call," Barrichello told reporters during a karting day in his native Sao Paulo. "I have no regrets. Now we move on. Yes, I have my opinion, but I am quiet. Our time together [at Ferrari] cannot have any hostility on the track because you can end up hurting each other."

Although Barrichello added that he had no lasting desire to be friends with Schumacher, he said that life was all about forgiveness.

"I have great respect for his championships, but I have no great desire to have him as a friend," Barrichelllo told Agencia Estado. "Life is about respect for others and forgiveness."

Barrichello will take part in his 300th grand prix at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium at the end of the month.
