October 23, 1966: John Surtees finished a remarkable yo-yo season with victory at the Mexican Grand Prix.

October 2, 1966: Jim Clark finally overcame the unreliability of his Lotus to win the US Grand Prix at Watkins Glen, although it was not a complete success for the Norwich team as the car had an old engine borrowed from rivals BRM.

September 4, 1966: A crowd of 60,000 was left in raptures as Ludovico Scarfiotti driving a Ferrari won the Italian Grand Prix, in Monza - the first Italian to win there since 1952 - but it was Jack Brabham who secured his third drivers' championship, in spite of retiring with engine trouble.

August 7, 1966: Jack Brabham eased to his fourth successive win at the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring, giving him an almost insurmountable lead in the drivers' championship.

July 24, 1966: Jack Brabham completed his third successive win in the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, and in so doing took a complete stranglehold on the world championship.

July 16, 1966: Jack Brabham proved his win at Reims was no fluke when he followed with victory in the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, a result which opened up a sizeable lead for him in the drivers' championship.

July 3, 1966: Jack Brabham won the French Grand Prix in Reims, in the heart of champagne country, his victory in his own V8 Brabham-Repco was the first world championship win by a driver in a car he had designed himself.

June 12, 1966: John Surtees, driving a V-12 Ferrari, won a sensational Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, the rain-soaked afternoon marred by a multi-car collision early on.

May 22, 1966: Jackie Stewart won the season-opening Monaco Grand Prix, driving a two-litre V-8 BRM, with three quarters of a minute to spare over the Ferrari of Lorenzo Bandini.
