Don't ban Chisora for life - Froch

Former world super-middleweight champion Carl Froch reckons Dereck Chisora's conduct in Munich across the weekend was "a disgrace", but feels that a lifetime ban from boxing would be too severe a punishment.

Chisora is the subject of an investigation by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC), who will look into his behaviour before, during and after his points defeat to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in Munich on Saturday.

At the weigh-in prior to the fight, Chisora slapped Vitali in the face; in the ring on Saturday he spat at Vitali's brother, Wladimir - and following the bout he was involved in a press-conference skirmish with Haye.

Chisora was arrested on Sunday for his antics - later being released without charge - and has faced widespread condemnation - including a rebuke from his promoter, Frank Warren. Froch has added his voice to the chorus of disapproval, but feels Chisora deserves the chance to fight on.

"I think a life ban is very strong - but the BBBoC have to take every incident as it happens," Froch told Sky Sports. "They've got a tough decision to make, but I don't think you can take away a man's livelihood based on that.

"He needs to be severely reprimanded - a slap on the wrist won't be enough. He needs to be told if he does anything like this in the future, then he will get a life ban."
