I won't give Pacquiao 50-50 split - Mayweather Jnr

Floyd Mayweather Jnr has made it clear that he will not step in the ring with Manny Pacquiao unless his Filipino rival backs down and accepts less money.

The fight the boxing world craves continues to be a distant dream, with neither fighter willing to compromise on their own demands, the latest of which sees Pacquiao reportedly asking for a 50-50 split.

The two camps were in negotiations earlier this year but, after talks stalled, both fighters made arrangements with other opponents - Mayweather meets Miguel Cotto on May 5, while WBO welterweight champion Pacquiao takes on Timothy Bradley on June 9.

A super-fight between the pound-for-pound rivals is now under an even darker cloud after Mayweather soured relations between the pair further by claiming he will not entertain the idea of allowing Pacquiao an equal share of the money on offer.

"Just by speaking to Pacquiao on the phone, I mean, he's not one of the sharpest knives in the drawer," Mayweather said. "He faces Floyd Mayweather, he's not getting 50-50. Not at all. No one is getting 50-50.

"If I offered him $30 million, he should be happy," Mayweather said. "If I offered him $30 million and I didn't give money on the back end, why should I? He's with [Bob, Pacquiao's promoter] Arum right now, and they're having problems. It's obvious he must not be getting money on the back end."

Top Rank promoter Arum says drug testing, which has been a stumbling block in the past, is not the issue; money is the problem.

"Bob Arum likes to match Top Rank fighters with Top Rank fights. He keeps all the money in house," Mayweather said.

"If I'm scared and I'm a coward, why do you guys want to see me fight? Do I want the Pacquiao fight? Absolutely. But it's going to be hard to make the fight because Arum is worried about getting money."
