Aguero sets sights on silverware

Hours after signing a new five-year deal, Manchester City's record signing Sergio Aguero has set his sights on winning silverware with the club.

Roberto Mancini's side ended the club's 35-year wait for a trophy by lifting the FA Cup in May, while a third-placed top-flight finish put them into the Champions League for the first time. Aguero, winner of the 2010 Europa League with Atletico Madrid, believes the club is headed toward further honours this campaign.

"I saw the game [FA Cup final] and I think we are a team that in the future will be fighting every year to win major trophies," said the 23-year-old. "Let's hope that it's quite a few major trophies."

Aguero earlier stated that he believes he wil not have any problems adapting to English football. "I think in terms of technique the leagues are similar. Maybe the game is more physical in England and there is a greater emphasis on tactics in Spain," he said on Manchester City's official website.

"From what I've seen on TV there is a high level of skill here. It is quite different but I need to wait for my first game, go out and do my best and find out for real what it's like, because playing is not the same as watching it on TV.

"My style has always been to fight to the death for every ball, and give 100 per cent in every game. I'm not a player who can do everything, but I still have plenty to offer. I don't think I'll have too many problems settling into the team."

Aguero became manager Mancini's third signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Arsenal defender Gael Clichy and Partizan Belgrade's Stefan Savic.
