Torres vows to break his duck

Fernando Torres is determined to justify his £50 million transfer fee with a goal against Blackpool on Monday.

The Spaniard, who netted 81 goals in three-and-a-half years at Liverpool, is yet to score for Chelsea since arriving from Anfield in January.

Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti claimed he did not ask his strikers to score goals after Chelsea's 2-1 win over Manchester United, but Torres admits he is feeling the pressure to finally get on the scoresheet.

"I know I'm here to score goals," Torres told Chelsea TV. "It's the job of the striker, so hopefully I can score the first and I'm sure it will be the first of many."

Torres admitted he was yet to feel completely at home at Stamford Bridge, but claims he is nearing peak fitness and believes it is only a matter of time before the goals begin to come.

"Trying to settle here, but much better, much better fitness," he said. "I felt the other day against Man United very good, sharp.

"So, waiting for the first goal and excited about that possibility. Hopefully, I can score against Blackpool."
